The holidays are quickly approaching. That doesn’t mean we all need to put on 5 pounds. If you can make it through December with no sweets, power to you.
For me, it’s all about cheating in moderation. Not a cookie each time I go to work. In the hospital, the holiday treat platters start rolling in about the second week in December. This goes right on through New Years as everyone brings in their left over junk to fatten the group instead of themselves. Jerks!
Avoiding the junk food is nearly impossible, unless you plan on locking yourself in through the holidays. Instead of avoidance, whip up some “healthier” recipes, eat it in moderation, and fill up on healthy things all day so you’re less likely to fall pray to the sugar monster.
I did a little search around the internet to find some healthier treat options, and here’s what I found.
Greatist.com brings us 48 cookie options. The Vegan Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip cookies sound particularly “healthy” and yummy!
Need something cute for the kids holiday parties? Or maybe you just have a hard time getting your littles to eat anything healthy at all. These cute Christmas themed treats from cleanandsensible.com should do the trick. And the fruit tree looks fantastic.
Adriana over at Living Healthy with Chocolate not only whipped up these amazing little deserts, but she also includes a link to the tools needed to make them. Thanks for making it easy on us girl!
The healthiest on the list by far comes from pennlive.com. I will most definitely be making the Apricot Chewies next weekend. Although these No Bake Chocolate Chip Cookies featured in the pic don’t look to shabby either!
I hope everyone has a fantastic holiday season, and you manage to stay healthy through out! If you have any healthy treat options please share!
